At the heart of MPA is Moldflow’s patented Dual Domain technology, which allows users to work directly from 3D solid CAD models without the need to create a finite element mesh analysis model.

This saves anywhere from hours to days to weeks in model preparation time, meaning more part and mold designs can be evaluated more thoroughly. In other words, users can spend more time optimizing their part and mold designs for manufacturability, and less on the time-consuming task of analysis model preparation.

In addition, Dual Domain provides the best combination of analysis speed and accuracy. Because Dual Domain has been developed and fine-tuned for thin-walled plastic parts, the most predominant geometry encountered in injection molding, users are able to obtain accurate analysis results in the minimum time. Unlike true 3D simulation, which is only appropriate for an extremely small percentage (<5%) of injection molded parts, Dual Domain technology allows users to analyze not just every part and mold design, but every part and mold design iteration.

The result is faster mold commissioning, decreased or non-existent mold rework, a more robust manufacturing process and faster time to market.
