Moldflow Midplane Generator

You need Moldflow Midplane Generator software if you have solid model data in STL, PATRAN surface mesh or Moldflow surface mesh formats and you want to create a midplane mesh automatically for input to Moldflow Plastcs Insight™ simulations.

MPI/Midplane Generator automatically converts CAD solid models into a finite-element midplane mesh model for use with Moldflow Plastics Insight simulation modules. Using MPI/Midplane Generator significantly reduces the time required to prepare midplane models for in-depth design analysis and optimization.

Capabilities

Seamless integration within MPI/Synergy user interface

Accepts input of the following file formats:
- STL files
- ANSYS Prep 7 (*.ans)
- I-DEAS Universal (*.unv)
- Nastran (*.nas)
- Nastran Bulk Data (*.bdf)
- Patran Neutral (*.pat)
- Patran out (*.out)
- IGES

Can be used on models imported from Moldflow Design Link (MDL)

The translation is quick and wizard driven

Translation is automatic, but mesh refinement can be controlled by the user

Accurate thickness properties assigned automatically to the midplane mesh

Outputs a midplane mesh model in MPI file format (*.sdy)

All MPI/Synergy geometry and mesh editing tools can be used to edit the midplane mesh

The midplane mesh can be remeshed locally or globally within MPI/Synergy

The resulting midplane mesh is adequate for most MPI simulations from filling through to warpage
